Blaq is a dark and simple theme for Vista Basic, that was once my personal theme which i made instead of that ugly default blue one. you asked for it, and now it's available for download
please note that not many elements of the default visual style have been modified, just the window borders and some hex-editing. the taskbar and the start menu, for example, are the same.
the downloadable package contains 5 versions of the visual style, each of a different color, and each with a suitable wallpaper.
INSTALLATION: before installing the visual style, make sure your system is rightly patched, that is by using either VistaGlazz or this Tutorial.
next step, extract the package's contents into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
to apply the theme, go to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Theme and select the desired version of the visual style.
as for the drop shadow effect, as seen in the preview, use Y'z Shadow in Compatibility Mode
The dark theme (on the screenshot) is very fantastic!
But is it also available for win7 x64? Cause it doesnt work with win7. The three systemfiles are already patched, but no chance. If i choose the Style, win7 shows the rootstyle (like win95/98).
